On Monday, 24 September, a group from Skibbereen Tidy Towns travelled to The Helix in Dublin for the 2018 annual Tidy Towns awards. A total of 883 entries were submitted from towns and villages all over Ireland. Skibbereen was awarded a bronze medal for the fourth year in a row and increased its marks in all but one category to achieve a total of 322 out of a possible 450. This was an increase of 8 marks year over year and reflects the work done in and around the town over the year.
The Tidy Towns committee would like to thank the Skibbereen community, Cork County Council, CE scheme members and Tidy Towns volunteers in achieving this award. We look forward to continued support for a range of projects being planned for 2019. We are always looking for volunteers and if interested please contact us through our social media channels or by email to skibbereentidytowns@icloud.com.
