Tidy Towns competition 2019

The National Awards Ceremony for the annual Tidy Towns competition took place at the Helix, DCU, on Monday 30th September, 2019. The committee is delighted to announce that Skibbereen achieved its first silver medal with an overall mark of 331, up 9 marks from 2018 and a further 8 marks from 2017.

The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped achieve this award – volunteers, community employment team, County Council, schools, private residences, businesses, sponsors, donors and supporters. After four bronze medals in a row it is an incredible achievement to cross the threshold to silver. A silver medal is difficult to obtain and even more difficult to retain, so increased support is required for the year ahead. We look forward to continued support for a range of projects being planned for 2020. We are always looking for volunteers and if interested please contact us through our social media channels or by email to skibbereentidytowns@icloud.com.
